Last friday night, we received an email from Boobs Of Doom, a crazy, experimental British band reviewed by Vlakorados a couple of years ago. The message announced the release of the new maxi-single "Thor's Womb", but above all informed us of Carrie's serious problem, a young girl who has a rare condition causing her spine to collapse crushing her brainstem. The project Carrie's Fund aims to collect 100.000 pounds by september to allow her to get surgery in Spain, which is the only way to save her.
"Thor's Womb" is made by forty minutes of «droning psychedelic avant-garde doom epic» and, as Sadsack and Thumper describe it, it contains in equal parts Pink Floyd, Sunn O))), Godspeed You! Black Emperor and The Orb, with Trent Reznor and Lee Perry fighting on the mix. On the Bandcamp page of the group we learn that both members are dealing with chronic illness and disabilities and for this reason they are particularly interested in Carrie's story; she said that the new song is perfect to describe her condition, made of darkness, isolation and fear, with the mind emptying of memories and abilities, while the steady rhythm resembles the sound of the machine which keeps her alive.
"Thor's Womb" is available in digital format at a (minimum) price of 5 euros on Bandcamp and the proceeds will go entirely to Carrie's Fund. On the campaign's website and on Boobs Of Doom's pages you can read the details of the story conoscere la vicende nei dettagli.
