Speed, insane rhythms, sharp, groovy and melodic riffs, technical skills, lots of adrenalin and beer. Thrash Metal is an evolution of classic Heavy Metal, an edgy sound which since the eighties has made its way towards those looking for harder stuff. Even if not prone to evolution, it is the first and longest-running extreme metal subgenre, and since the beginning recognizable in two main waves: the German one, brought under the spotlight by Kreator, Sodom, Destruction and many others, and California bay area bands, such as Metallica, Megadeth and Testament. Almost forty years after its first solos, Thrash is still one of the most entertaining and loved genres of Metal.
